Club News: Senior Chair Volleyball captures two gold medalsPosted on: 2011-10-11Once again, Canyon Lake came home victorious after taking two gold medals at the Inland Empire Senior Olympics on October 1. Six Canyon Lake Senior Chair Volleyball teams participated. For four consecutive years, at least one of the Canyon Lake teams captured first place.
This year’s winning team, the Barracudas, coached by Don Miller, played nine hard- fought games and remained undefeated throughout the competition. The “Easy Play” team, coached by Carol Froehlich, also brought home a gold medal. According to Chair Volleyball photographer, spokesperson and participant Bert Barbay, all six of the Canyon Lake teams were well prepared and proudly represented Canyon Lake in the exciting and closely contested matches.
Sun City’s teams also did well, securing both the silver and bronze medals in regular competition. In the Easy Play division, Canyon Lake Community Church took the silver, and Menifee’s Chair Bears won the bronze medal.
“During the last few years, the sport of chair volleyball has grown so popular that only basketball now has more participants in the Inland Empire Senior Olympics,” says Bert. “Canyon Lake is already looking forward to defending their winning status next year.”
The Canyon Lake Senior Chair Volleyball Club is proud to have four generous and loyal sponsors: Juanita Robles of Coldwell Banker Realty, John and Sandy Geer of Pitstop Sports Bar & Grill, Chris Greer of The Law Offices of Beck & Greer, and Tom Bloom of Miller Jones Mortuary. Bert adds, “A special thanks goes out to Tom Bloom and staff who provided a delicious barbecue following the awards ceremony. A wonderful time was had by all.”
- Science of 'chestology' is offered at Hope's ChestPosted on: 2011-10-05
A question few women are asked is, “How do you like your bra?” Without a doubt most every woman has an opinion about their bra, and more often than not it is about their discomfort, according to Hope Suhr. “Eighty-five percent of women are wearing the wrong size bra,” says Hope, who opened the full fitting lingerie boutique, Hope’s Chest, in the Towne Center on September 15.
Hope and the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce invite residents to a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, September 20, at 5 p.m. at Hope’s Chest, 31630, Railroad Canyon Rd., Ste. 15 in the Towne Center in the building behind Pepe's.
The idea of helping women find the perfect bra came from Hope’s brassier fitting experience several years ago. “A local boutique introduced a bra specialist that encouraged me to try several bras based on my newfound measurements. To my surprise, my look and comfort level had an immediate impact on my inner sexy as well as my outer form,” says Hope.
Since that encounter, Hope has studied the culture of the brassier, its proper fit and function in women’s everyday lives for over three and a half years. Her experience has not only set a new comfort level in her own life, it also inspired her to launch “Hope’s Chest Company.” She is now a self proclaimed “Chestologist.”
The atmosphere at Hope’s Chest is one of comfort and beauty, as her products are tastefully displayed throughout the store. Hope herself is tasteful, with a personality and knowledge that puts her clients at ease.
A consultation area in the back allows Hope to sit down with her clients and talk about their needs. Hope caters to all shapes and sizes of women – from A-cup to full-figured women, breastfeeding moms and cancer survivors with prosthetic bra needs.
She carries many name-brand, high-end products, including Fantasy, Panache, Alegro, Calvin Klein and Mia. Her prices range from $32 to $150, with the most expensive being European lace styles. Hope also carries panties, lingerie and accessories such as bump-ups, extenders and decorative bra straps.
“Hope’s Chest is the very essence of women, the place to educate, consult, establish financial opportunities and provide inspiration for your beauty,” says Hope.
She also opens her store for private gatherings, such as bachelorette parties.
Hopes Chest is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
For more information or to schedule a personal fitting, call Hope at 246-0894, or visit www.hopeschestco.com -

SUGAR DOLLZPosted on: 2011-04-20Welcome to Sugar Dollz,
After working in the corporate world for 10 years, I decided it was time for a change. I’ve always had a passion for fashion, and what better way to express it then to open a clothing store and offer trendy styles that won’t break the bank! We strive to offer fashionable and affordable clothing for all our dollz to feel fabulous. I live in a small community tucked away in sunny Southern California called Canyon Lake. Our favorite Time of the year is summer. Living on a lake means lots of bikinis. We specialize in handmade bikinis and we scrunch the butts to give your suit that extra touch! Sugar Dollz wanted to set us apart from other clothing stores so we decided to spruce things up and carry mommy & me bikinis & velour, so you and your little princess can match. Over 3 generations & 14 girls later, My mom & sister decided it was only necessary to bring in all the lil doll needs so we carry tutus, bling shirts hoodies, one of a kind birthday hats, cupcake shirts tons of bows & much more!

https://www.easyoc.com/node/add/eventWebsite:newsletter@easyoc.com - Nail Artist Nails Big Win!Posted on: 2010-09-07

Nail artists at Letting Go Salon in the Towne Center are excited about their nail art wins at recent competitions in Long Beach, Las Vegas, Florida and Sacramento. Since the salon opened, the nail artists have won five awards for their creative designs.
Owner Lorraine Nelson says the team is particularly excited about the latest competition where artist Daosa Johnson won first place in the novice level and has moved up to the next level of the Nailpro Competition.
The theme for the hand-painted category was “tattoos,” which Lorraine says was right up their alley since their artists have been painting tattoo-themed nails for many of their clients. Daosa’s winning design was a phoenix within clouds and included intricate detail of very feather on the mythical bird.
Lorraine placed fourth in the Veteran level. She welcomes newest artist, Joelene Salazar, who took seventh place at the Sacramento competition. The salon is competing for the Nailpro Cup, which is based on all the points accumulated throughout the year.
They also are excited to have been nominated by their clients for “Best Manicurist” in the Inland Empire and are awaiting the final results.
Daosa’s winning design as well as past competition sets can be viewed Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Letting Go Salon, 31528 Railroad Canyon Rd. - New Neighbors!Posted on: 2010-02-09

Chair volleyball rocks! - New Neighbors!Posted on: 2009-09-08
Hi everyone! My name is Katie and I bought my first house! Above is a picture of me, my boyfriend Marcello, and our dog Duke (“Scooby-Snack”). We’ve been living in a small tiny apartment for the past year, and it is great to finally have all this space and a real place to call home! My three nephews come over quite a bit, and now they have their own bedroom, and a great park to play at down the street. They love coming over to play games and hang out with Duke. Duke loves the big yard! The other night, he chased a possum and a cat across the fence. He loves all the new things to see, and laying in the shade under one of our many trees. We will have to work on that digging thing though.
The house is great! We have a lot of work that still needs to be done, but we’ve made some major improvements already just by having the trees trimmed, and the yard cleared. What a change just having fresh paint and getting appliances in! Duke loves going with us to Home Depot, which is quite frequent lately. We’re working in the backyard next and hope to have grass in by end of August!
It’s been a very challenging 4 months getting here. I’d like to thank my grandparents for making this all possible, and to my family for putting up with me during all my stressful moments. And to Juanita for all her hard work and dedication! Juanita, you were so organized and prompt with everything. From the beginning, I truly felt like more than just a client and trusted you through the entire process. You even let Duke sit in the back seat of your clean car!!! The biggest gift I can hope to give you Juanita, is a referral from the many friends and family that I have referred to you already. Whenever I will need a realtor again, I will always turn to you!
Sincerely,
Katie, Marcello & Duke

Hi. We are Cynde & Jon Chaffin and we have enjoyed living in Canyon Lake for over 12 years (wow – I can’t believe it’s been that long!). The picture Juanita posted also includes one of our pups – Kady. She is amongst the four Bichons that are included in our family (Jake, Molly & Bleu), as well as Chelsea – our German Shepherd. We live in another home just down the street from the house we purchased with Juanita’s help and expertise (by the way – if you haven’t had the chance to use her - she is an AWESOME realtor).
We have rented our new property to Kathy Ridge, owner of Not Just for Paws Pet Grooming in the Village – (Another great place to take your pets if they need the “fluff and puff”. Kathy and her pup, Grizzly, are now enjoying the comfort of their new place; that is as soon as Grizzly gets acclimated to his new surroundings and quits being such an escape artist. That has given Kathy some grief, as she is an incredible dog lover, but I think we finally found all the “holes” the little guy gets through. Property is a good way to invest, so if you have a chance to utilize Juanita’s skills, we highly recommend her!!! Have a great day!!! - A dog's life in Lucca, ItalyPosted on: 2009-06-09
